Chicha Fest Collection

This collection comes from the makers of Chicha Fest.

In 2023, Araceli and Lorena worked together with friends to create a space to share Indigenous knowledge and ancestral drinks and food with community. The space quickly blossomed into a multidisciplinary platform for artists, musicians, and cultural bearers to exchange, learn, and teach about Indigenous knowledge, food, and culture.

Now in 2026, Chicha Fest will have an exhibition to highlight the importance of corn in Indigenous communities. In addition to the various corn and community inspired designs that will be displayed at the Chicha Fest exhibition, fiber artists Araceli Moreno and Ellie Hurtado will be exhibiting tapestry weaving designs inspired by the “Milpa.”

The three tapestry weaving designs in the Chicha Fest Collection were made specifically for Chicha Fest with the “milpa” as inspiration. “Milpa” is an indigenous agricultural method of growing corn, beans, and squash in a sustainable way.

May our designs inspire and bring us together both human and animal beings.
